Ellinas on pole at Le Mans

Tio Ellinas (Strakka Racing) landed his second Formula Renault 3.5 Series pole of the season at the Circuit Bugatti Le Mans on Sunday morning, posting a new class track record of 1:20.648 to lead the way from French pair Matthieu Vaxiviere (Lotus) and Tom Dillmann (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin), with rookies Aurélien Panis (Tech 1 Racing) and Egor Orudzhev (Arden Motorsport) completing the top five. Meanwhile, points leader Oliver Rowland (Fortec Motorsports) will start 14th.

The DAMS drivers were first to show after the restart, though it was Tom Dillmann who topped the timesheets ahead of the switch to new tyres.Oliver Rowland led the charge heading into the final three minutes, with Tio Ellinas then trumping everyone with a time of 1:20.648. Following him on the grid will be Matthieu Vaxiviere, Tom Dillmann and rookies Aurélien Panis and Egor Orudhzev, while Oliver Rowland, who has the chance to seal the title today.
